Sandhill Crane Hunt with Mark Meissenburg of Panhandle's Best, Inc.
Experience an exciting hunt for the "Ribeye of the Sky" with one of the best outfitters around. Hunt sandhill crane early in the morning over mounted decoys. Three person minimum, 9 person maximum. Your guide will take you where the birds are located. Assuming usual weather patterns, lodging will most likely be at the Cresent Park Motel in Littlefield, TX (35 miles northeast of Lubbock). Double rooms are $50 per night. Exact location will be confirmed closer to the hunt. Optional same-day afternoon hunts available for extra charge. Hunts include breakfast, lunch, beverages and bird cleaning.
Each hunter needs (1) a regular Texas hunting license, (2) a sandhill crane permit (free, you just have to ask for it), (3) a current HIP number (free also), and (4) a migratory bird stamp endorsement ($7.00, in case geese are around). Outfitter recommends 12 gauge # 4 copper plated lead (2 3/4 inch is fine). If there are geese in the area, outfitter says steel BB # 1's or # 2's are good, but the Heavy Shot # 4 is the best.
Member Cost: $250 perperson per day, or $225per person per day with 5 or more hunters. Hunters are responsible for their own licenses and shells.
50% deposit by August 31, 2008
