Crawfish & Shrimp Boil with all the Fixings
Ayeee, the DWWC will be hosting its second Crawfish & Shrimp boil event for members, spouses, or significant others on April 27, 2024. The Crawfish and Shrimp will be boiled separately with each boil having corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage added to the pot. In addition,there will be corn bread and deserts. This will be held at the Carrollton American Legion where the Club held it pig roast last year. In addition to the food, the Legion will have a cash bar.
Dinner starts at 4:00 but you can come early. The bar will be open. Prices here are significantly below restaurant prices. Come enjoy the cuisine and socialize with your friends.
At 7:00 PM the Legion will have their usual Saturday karaoke night. Club members are invited to stay and enjoy the singing.
The cost is $45 per person.

2024 Prairie Dog Shoot
For Members Only: Prairie dog shooting is about the most fun you can have while shooting. Envision "Wack a Mole" with a rifle. The Club has sponsored these twice before and everyone had a great time. Jim Shepherd the coordinator of this hunt for the Club shot dogs with this same outfitter last year and is back for more.
We will travel to Eastern New Mexico for lots of shooting! The current plan is to drive out Friday morning, May 3, with hunting planned for Saturday through Sunday, May 5. Our guide will scout the area and determine which of several ranches we will hunt, and the best town to stay in. For the moment, plan on Logan, NM, which is 7 hours from Dallas. This is subject to change, if the hunting is better elsewhere.
Cost is $325.00 per shooter for two days of shooting. Once the exact location is picked we will find lodging nearby. Each hunter will pay for their own room and meals.
Prairie dogs are about 2 to 3 times the size of a squirrel so you don’t need a big caliber. Shots will normally be from 100 to 300 yards depending on the size of the “town”. An idea rifle is a .223 AR, which gives instant follow up shots. On a shoot in 2020 one of our members shot 250 rounds the first morning with that weapon. Any of the fast .22s would be good. A semi auto is best but bolt guns work too.
You will need a NM non-game hunting license which you can buy online. Nongame species include prairie dogs, rabbits, ground squirrels, coyotes, skunks and Himalayan tahr. You can purchase your license at https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/ The cost of the nonresident non game license is $65. If you have hunted in NM before you will have a Customer ID. The website gives you a chance to recover it, if you don’t know it. Hunter Ed requirements apply in NM too.

Wild Game Cooking Class
It is time for another Wild Game Cooking Class. It will again be at the Sur La Table Preston/Royal location. Receive instruction from a professional chef as you prepare a tasty meal involving duck and striped bass. This will be a great time to learn how to cook amazing meal using different ingredients. Comments from last year included, "I can't believe you made this taste good," and "We are having a great time!" Upon completion of the cooking we will dine on what is sure to be a meal to be remembered. After eating you are sure to want to go on a hunting/fishing trip soon. The class will begin at 7PM and run for about 2 hours. Water, coffee, and tea will be provided, but you may bring additional beverages. Significant others or a guest are welcome.Guests will also receive a special discount for shopping in the store that night. Don't miss this great night out with members.

White Bass Fishing on Cedar Creek Lake - Sunday June 2nd, 2024
The Club will be repeating its guided fishing trip for White Bass with BigCrappie.com. Cedar Creek Lake is about an hour SE of Dallas. They know exactly where to find the fish so the action should be fast. The daily limit is 25! BigCrappie.com provides the fully equipped boat, guide, rods/reels, tackle, bait, bottled water and cleaning/bagging of keepers. White bass are great fun to catch and really good eating!
This is an afternoon trip so no need to get up with the chickens. We will meet our guide at the Huddle House restaurant in Gun Barrell City at 12:30. The fishing is from 1:00 to 5:00. Then they fillet and package our fish. Bring a cooler and ice to take them home. We have reserved two boats and anticipate having 4 adults per boat. A young child or 2 can fit in as well. This is a great trip for families! The cost for adults (12 and over) is $195. Kids under 12 are $75.
Water is included. Bring any other drinks that you want. Sun screen and a hat are advised too.
Tickets are nonrefundable unless BigCrappie.com cancels because of weather or the Club is able to resell your ticket.

Crappie Fishing on Cedar Creek Lake - Sunday June 9th

In early June the Crappie will be out from under docks and gathered around brush piles. The guides know where the brush piles are so getting a limit of 25 is often accomplished. Tom Stone Memorial Dove Hunt - Opening Weekend 2024 (8/31 - 9/2)
Dallas Woods and Waters is hosting its 3rd annual Tom Stone Memorial Dove Hunt opening weekend. This is the club’s premier event. The cost of this hunt is $475 per person and includes 2 nights lodging, 2 days of hunting, and 5 meals. Hunting is 9/1 and 9/2. Lodging is provided from Saturday night until Monday AM with meals served at the lodge. We will be hunting with our West Texas preferred outfitter Ranger Creek Goose. Lodging will again be with Big Country Baptist Assembly. A hospitality suite is provided. All rooms are double occupancy with a private bathroom. This is a great hunt for hunters of all ages and experience levels. It is family friendly. Limits are possible on this hunt, but what makes this a great trip is the time spent with fellow members. Due to demand this trip is limited to members and their immediate family members only. No guests of members will be permitted. Bull Reds and Redheads
DWWCC is in the process of exploring a unique trip. We are calling it our Bull Red and Redheads. We are looking at a weekend in November. This trip will feature 2 options. The first is going to be a blast and cast. You will spend part of the day hunting ducks and finish the day with fishing. The second option will be a straight fishing trip. You will fish for a full day. This is early season duck hunting so the weather should be nice. This is also prime season for that bull red. Registration for this trip will be extremely limited!
