Upland Bird Hunt - January 17

Arrival is at 12:30 for lunch.  After lunch we will begin our hunt.  The hunt will cease around 4PM.  Beverages are provided throughout the day. We will hunt the standard mixed bag of 8 quail, 2 chukar, and 2 pheasants per hunter. Additional birds may be added for a nominal fee. The cost for this trip is $330 plus tips. It includes the standard mixed bag along with DWWCC fees. You bring your shotgun, shells no larger than 6 shot and preferably 7-7.5, license, and your orange. Prairie’s End will provide us with the rest. This trip is currently capped at 8 hunters, and it is for Members Only.

Coastal Blast or Cast

Back by Popular Demand!

This trip is a Coastal Blast and/or Cast.  The club has hired our favorite guide in Port O’Connor, Tx Capt. Thomas Mikes to lead what is always a fun trip!  Arrival is January 22 and departure is the morning of January 26.  Guided days on the water are Janauary 23-25, 2026.

We have 3 days booked with Thomas and another guide from his arsenal.  The plan is to either hunt ducks or fish on January 23, 24, and 25.  This trip is built to optimize opportunities for duck hunting and fishing.  We will consult with our guides to provide the best trip possible.  The primary goal unless decided by the group is to hunt ducks.  If the ducks and weather decide not to cooperate we will focus on fishing.  The fishing will target Sheepshead.  If you don’t know: Sheepshead are great fighters and some of the best tasting fish (think “inshore” snapper… yes, that good eating).

Lodging is provided all nights in a local house.  The group will decide on meals closer to the trip.  If you would like to fish in the afternoon you may go to the pier or one of the smaller jetties nearby.

For duck hunting you will need to bring your gun, waders, non-toxic shot (size 2-6), and other duck hunting gear.  All tackle is provided while fishing with the guide.  

The cost of this trip is $870.  It does include all lodging and guide fees.  (A regular 1 day cast and blast with a coastal guide is $700, and no lodging.)  This trip is at a great price!

We will hunt the standard mixed bag of 8 quail, 2 chukar, and 2 pheasants per hunter. Additional birds may be added for a nominal fee. The cost for this trip is $330 plus tips. It includes the standard mixed bag along with DWWCC fees. You bring your shotgun, shells no larger than 6 shot and preferably 7-7.5, license, and your orange. Prairie’s End will provide us with the rest. This trip is currently capped at 8 hunters, and it is for Members Only.

Pheasant Tower Shoot

The Club will have 10 of 20 sports for this shoot. Join other members for this unique shooting experience.

 Procedures and Rules:

• Shooting grounds consist of 20 shooting positions that range from 75 to 150 yards from the tower
• Each station is occupied by one or two shooters. (20 minimum – 40 maximum)
• Nine pheasants per shooter are released during the shoot; pheasants will be released two at a time
• Shooting positions are situated to allow only overhead shooting at pheasants that have a flying start of at least 75 yards
• Most shots are from 20 to 60 yards long
• Recommended Gun: 12 gauge, full choke
• Recommended Shell: 2 3/4″ 3 1/4 dram. 1 1/4 oz. #5s; no 3″ or 3 1/2″ magnums allowed and no shot larger than #5 allowed
• Shooters rotate after each shooting period. During the shoot each shooter rotates completely around the tower
• Halfway through the shoot we take a break for refreshments
• When the shooting is completed, all shooters return to the lodge for a barbecue lunch of beef, ribs, and sausage
• All birds are cleaned and divided equally
• Price is $625.00 per gun
• Shoot starts at 9:00 AM; arrive no later than 8:30 AM
